Family-owned junk removal in Meridian, Idaho

Our home town

Meridian keeps growing, and most of what we haul out of here reflects that. Subdivisions like Lochsa Falls, Paramount, Bridgetower, Settlers Bridge, Spurwing, and The Oaks North are mostly newer, master-planned, with HOAs and three-car garages. Those garages are built for storage, and storage is exactly what fills up with the stuff nobody wants to deal with — old patio furniture, outgrown kids' gear, half-finished DIY projects stacked along one wall.

Not every part of Meridian looks like that, though. Old Town still has smaller, older homes mixed in, and there's a good amount of multi-family housing near The Village, where cleanouts tend to be about turnover — getting a unit or a rental ready to show again rather than clearing out decades of accumulated stuff.

Meridian's one of the fastest-growing cities in the state, and that growth shows up in the variety of calls we get: a hoarder cleanout in an older neighborhood, an appliance swap in a brand-new build, a shed coming down before a backyard remodel. We're based right here in Meridian, so that mix is just normal to us.

If you're not sure whether something counts as a simple junk pickup or a bigger property cleanout, just ask. We'll give you a straight answer, not a sales pitch.

Where It Goes, and What Needs a Permit First

Most loads out of Meridian end up at the Ada County Landfill, which locals call Hidden Hollow, up in the north Boise foothills off Seamans Gulch Rd. For smaller loads, the Meridian Transfer Station on W Franklin Rd (run by Republic Services) is usually the closer stop, and it takes large metal items and cardboard at no charge. Tires and Freon-containing appliances carry a disposal fee at either site, and hazardous waste isn't accepted at the landfill at all.

A few jobs need paperwork before we touch anything. Tearing down a shed, garage, or mobile home in Meridian goes through Meridian Building Services and the city's Citizen Access permit system. And if a dumpster needs to sit in the street or along the shoulder instead of in a driveway, that's actually ACHD's call, not the city's — ACHD owns Meridian's public streets, so a temporary right-of-way permit is required.

Yard debris is its own category, too. Open burning inside city limits is limited to small recreational fires and irrigation-ditch burning — actual yard waste, demo debris, or construction scraps can't legally go in a burn pile, and burn barrels are banned countywide. That's one more reason most of it gets hauled instead of burned.

Meridian questions

Will Meridian's bulky pickup program take my old hot tub?+

No — the city's bulky-item service specifically excludes hot tubs, along with pianos, bathtubs, boats, and construction debris, so that one's a job for a junk removal company instead.

Do I need a permit to put a dumpster in front of my house in Meridian?+

If it's sitting in the street, on the sidewalk, or on the shoulder, yes — ACHD owns Meridian's streets and requires a temporary right-of-way permit for that.

Can I just burn yard waste or old lumber in my backyard?+

Not legally. Meridian only allows small recreational fires and irrigation-ditch burning inside city limits, and burn barrels are prohibited countywide, so debris and demolition waste need to be hauled off instead.

How many free bulky pickups does the city give single-family homes?+

Meridian offers a set number of free bulky pickups per calendar year through Republic Services, but it's limited to furniture and appliances over a certain weight and has to be scheduled ahead of time — anything outside that scope is where we come in.
